The department established a master's program in 1984, a university department in the following year (85), a doctoral program in 88, a master's degree program in Taichung in 89, and an on-the-job program in 90. However, in response to changes in the industrial environment, the Master's on-the-job program has been transferred to the School of Management's EMBA program since the 96th academic year, and all enrollment in the Doctoral program has been transferred to the School of Management's Ph.D. program in Emerging Industry Strategy and Development since the 103rd academic year. Currently, there are 11 full-time faculty members, 2 administrators, and 352 students, including 283 in the bachelor's program and 69 in the master's program.
In response to the international trend of corporate globalization and economic regionalization, and in order to enhance the overall competitiveness of the country, the department aims to cultivate international talents who are "open-minded", "caring", and "creative". Through a well-designed curriculum in international business-related fields and the integration of business practices into the professional academic curriculum, the department aims to enhance students' professionalism and practical involvement in international business. In addition, the department focuses on international business management, cross-disciplinary integration of various professional disciplines, and students' practice of innovation orientation. With the 3I spirit of "Internationalization", "Industrialization", and "Integration", the department aims to cultivate students with the strong competence required by international businesses. Welcome to the Department of International Business Studies at NCNU. Here, you will meet a group of good students who learn from each other and cooperate with each other, seniors who take good care of you, teachers who are friendly and specialized, and assistants in the department office who are helpful. Whether you have something happy or sad you want to share with someone, or you suddenly feel hungry in the middle of a class, the department office located on the fourth floor of the College of Management next to the Lixue slope, right out of the elevator, is always open for you. If you want to come into the office, you can walk around, eat some cookies and candies in the snack area, chat with the assistants and teachers, and face challenges with a positive mindset.
Being a student means "learning everywhere" and maintaining a positive attitude at all times. The university years are an important stage for you to develop your competitive edge before you enter the job market. The Department of International Business at NCNU offers a variety of learning opportunities and a favorable learning environment, allowing you to learn about yourself in many ways and to explore what you want to cultivate in terms of expertise and future career direction. The department offers three sub-disciplinary programs in international business management and strategy, international finance and treasury, and international marketing and innovation, as well as EMI course and cross-cultural management, to train you to become a globally competitive managerial talent.
"Corporate Management Project" and "Corporate Internship" are two prominent practical courses in our department. During the junior year, under the guidance of the professor in charge of the Corporate Management Project, you and your team members will have the opportunity to participate in on-campus and off-campus business entrepreneurship or corporate case competitions. Alternatively, you may contribute to the promotion of local distinctive industries. The Corporate Internship course is offered both during the regular semester and the summer break, with over half of the senior students gaining internship experience in domestic and international companies.
Moreover, the department facilitates approximately 10 students each year in successfully applying for short-term exchange programs with overseas universities. Eligible students can apply for the integrated five-year master's degree program as early as the first semester of the junior year. Upon acceptance, they become pre-master's students in the department, and subsequently, they can participate in the master's program admission test or entrance examination. Those who are admitted can potentially begin their master's degree program as early as the second semester of their senior year.
In the past, you may have been more accustomed to following the instructions of your parents or teachers, with less initiative in seeking your own path. Upon your arrival at the Department of Business Study at National Chi Nan University, it is hoped that you will proactively explore various fields of expertise, participate in the various activities organized by the department's student associations, and consider joining at least one of the department's sports teams for regular practices.
