A "required" elective course in the IBS!!

For emerging industry trends and business models, technology advancement and increasing demand are key factors. Technological changes drive the rise of industries and simultaneously disrupt existing business models and applications in daily life. In this Chinese-taught course led by "Lo Lo"(Professer LO) students learn about and grasp the layout and development of future startup industries by combining digital courses with carefully selected industry trend articles and case studies of emerging technology industries.

In this course, before class, you and your group members will use Coggle for online collaborative mind mapping to complete autonomous learning and analysis on assigned topics. In addition to presentations and Q&A sessions during class, "Lo Lo" also encourages students to engage in more direct interactions within and between groups during small activities in class, through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) oriented towards questions. At the end of the semester, there will be a video competition where each group applies what they have learned to analyze selected topics (110-2 semester video link) (111-2 semester video link). Interested students are welcome to further understand the course content on the academic system's course outline. Students from other departments are also welcome; simply add the course directly in the classroom on the first day of class!

Student Course Review:

  • Thank you, teacher.
  • If possible, I'd like to ask if you could offer an additional course or spend more time discussing interpersonal skills (such as how to communicate with professors/bosses) or life philosophy? I really enjoy your lectures, thank you, teacher, for your hard work!
  • You're the best!
  • The direction of the group's final video production was somewhat lacking, but the teacher showed concern for each group's preparation status.
  • The course is very fulfilling, but there are really a lot of reports.
  • This course requires weekly reports, with topics announced in advance by the teacher, so there is enough time to prepare. In this course, I feel the greatest benefit is that there are many master's students (mostly working professionals) taking the course together, so we can hear different viewpoints, voices, and thoughts colliding, while also exchanging our experiences. Similarly, "Luo Luo" teacher's course isn't an easy one to slack off in, but if you invest yourself seriously, it's definitely worth the high scores. (Source: Dcard

"Technology-push" and "demand-pull" are key factors driving emerging industry trends and business models. From social to commercial, from entertainment to work, groundbreaking technological changes such as semiconductors, new energy, smart manufacturing, electric vehicles, digital finance, 5G mobile communications, artificial intelligence, etc., have not only spurred many emerging industries but also transformed existing business operations and lifestyle applications. Within this landscape lies excitement for endless opportunities, as well as concerns about uncertain threats. Success in shaping and executing future industry policies, corporate strategies, and cooperative interactions must be built upon a correct understanding and comprehensive grasp of industry life cycles, innovative business models, and cooperative ecosystems.

With an average of three 10-minute topic videos per week, students can watch, pause, reflect, and engage at their own pace, allowing them to absorb the essence of the course with no burden and high efficiency. It is hoped that through the integration of these digital courses, students' curiosity will be sparked, leading to further autonomous learning, reflection, and application regarding emerging industry trends and business models.
