The EMI elective is a “required” course in the Department of IBS!

"Co-opetitive Dynamics and Platform Strategy" combines the two most important themes in contemporary business practice. First, it familiarizes students with the revolutionary strategy of "co-opetition," mastering the five key elements of the game theory PARTS framework to expand the pie through cooperation and strive for a larger share when dividing it. Then, students learn about the "platform" model, understanding how to establish positive network effects so that the more platform users there are, the higher the platform's value. "Lo Lo" will guide students to explore and analyze various types of platforms, such as short-term rental platform Airbnb, food delivery platform UberEats, and social platform Tinder.

In this course, prior to class, you will collaborate with your group members using Coggle, an online mind mapping tool, to independently study and analyze assigned topics. During class, in addition to full English presentations and Q&A sessions, "Luo Luo" also encourages students to engage in problem-based learning (PBL) through question-oriented activities within and between groups, fostering more direct interaction. At the end of the semester, there will be a video competition, allowing each group to apply their learning to the selected topics and analysis (For the video link of the 111-1 semester, please click here). Interested students are welcome to further explore the course content in the curriculum outline on the academic system. Students from other departments are also welcome; just come to the classroom on the first day of class for enrollment!
